Ive been quiet lately, here an update!

My blog has been little dormant for a while, due to some life changes.
So heres a quick over view of the last 12 months…

I was given an amazing opportunity after I went for an interview to work for Posh Totty Designs,
this required me moving 200 miles to Brighton. I worked as a freelance Jeweller in a workshop and I loved my job, the people there were lovely and it was basically my dream job, unfortunately all good things come to an end and after christmas there was just not enough work for everyone so as much as I loved Brighton I reluctantly moved back home in February for a while.

Amongst settling back in at home and doing a bit of travelling and I've relocated my workshop (to another shed in the garden) and began to start making again. Its not quite photo ready as I'm still settling into in and finding homes for all my tools which I didn't realise I had so many of! (I'll post some once I've got it how I like it!)

Id like to take a moment here to thank papa bear for the redevelopment of the shed which he's tailored to my design needs.

At the moment Ive got a small art and music festival stall coming up in July and quite a big fair I'm working towards mid september so keep an eye open for new pieces and updates.

Hopefully I'll have a few things up in my etsy shop again soon!

Spring Cleaning the Workshop

So this isn't the most interesting post, but as I mentioned in my previous one my dad had a bit of a clear out in the shed and made some more room for me. I decided to give it bit of spring clean as there was filings, wire wool and sandpaper all over the place.

It actually took me a little longer than I expected. I sectioned everything so things have a place now.
My buffs, files and sandpaper together. The stamps and texturing hammers together. Ive got all my soldering tools in an area, and an area for forming with my mandrels, disc cutter and steel block.

I also gave my doming block a clean up as it had gathered a bit of rust over winter due to the cold/damp. I just got a wire brush over it and then took some wire wool to get in the domed bits.

I had a small set of drawers which have been left redundant for a while with no use. My silver box was full of bags of jump hoops and clasps etc so I labeled the drawers up and put them in so its easier to find, also easier to know when I need to replen on things!

More Samples, Potential New Collection and an update!

Here are a few more samples I've been working on! With the application date for the Harley Gallery drawing near I've had to crack on and get some new things made to send off.

Im potentially going to be doing a tool review tomorrow on one of the new hammers I bought a few weeks ago so keep an eye for that!

Im really pleased with the out comes, apart from the twisted bangle, I think for a ring the 1mm wire is fine but for the bangle its just too flimsy. I may potentially try it out with 1.5mm wire and see how it works out

My workshops had a bit of a spring clean too thanks to my dad, he's cleared a lot more of his stuff out so I now have more room, though Ive yet to see so will have a look tomorrow! I find that I really struggle for space at times where Im trying to do multiple things at once so hopefully the new found space will be able to ease things up a bit.

Everyday I'm Sampling

Ok, well not every day but I had that lmfao song stuck in my head and kept singing that instead of 'everyday I'm shuffling'

So I've been sampling a few ideas since my dad finally got round to replacing my gas.
A few worked a few didn't, there still room for development but Im happy so far!

Please excuse the fact that they havent been cleaned up properly or polished, I was concentrating more on making the samples :)
